Child killed in weekend crash identified

<p>The 5-year-old boy who died following a weekend car crash near Trafalgar has been identified.</p><p>Elijah Crowe died at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health.</p><p>The crash occurred just before 9:30 a.m. on State Road 252 near County Road 150 West. Sheriff Doug Cox said 10 accidents have occurred at that intersection in the past five years, three of which resulted in injuries. Sunday’s crash was the only one to result in a fatality, he said.</p><p>Trafalgar police responded to the report of a car crash with entrapment where they found the boy unconscious in his car seat in the back seat of the car. Officers performed CPR on him, according to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. When Greenwood police arrived, they found the driver of the car, Aaron Crowe, 28, of Trafalgar, lying beside the car, the report said.</p><p>Both were airlifted to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Due to the extent of the boy’s injuries, he was later transferred to Riley, where he died.</p><p>Aaron Crowe was taken into surgery at Methodist, sheriff’s deputies said. As of Monday afternoon, he was in critical condition at Methodist, a hospital spokesperson said.</p><p>Cox said Aaron Crowe stopped at the stop sign at County Road 150 West before pulling out in front of Ronald Brown, 79, of Bargersville, who was traveling east on State Road 252.</p><p>Brown was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. He told officers he does not remember what happened, according to the report.</p>
