In the second quarter, I felt like we did the same thing. (Columbus North) did hit those back-to-back 3s, which was a momentum changer.”

In the first quarter, the Bull Dogs (5-3) found themselves playing from behind when the Woodmen (2-7) hit a couple of 3-pointers to jump out to an 9-4 lead. A couple of baskets from Kylah Lawson cut the Woodmen lead to 9-8. Quinn Kelly stopped the quick spur with a bucket to make it 11-8. North then finished on a 5-0 run with Norman hitting her first of three triples right before the first quarter buzzer to make it 13-11 after one quarter.

A 3-pointer from Anna Prichett gave Greenwood the 14-13 lead and a basket from Sarah DeCastro extended the lead to 16-13, setting up the Bull Dog rally. Following the rally, the Bull Dogs found themselves ahead 25-16 and 27-19 at halftime.

After the Woodmen got the first basket of the third quarter, the Bull Dogs controlled the rest of the quarter by going on an 11-0 run to extend the lead to 38-21 and effectively ending Greenwood’s chance at rallying in the fourth quarter.

It was balanced scoring across the board for the Bull Dogs. Annie Anderson, Lawson and Alexa McKinley all finished with 10 points. The Woodmen were led by Pritchett, who finished with seven points.

Bennett has several girls out with injuries who could right the ship upon their return and get Greenwood back in the win column.

“Coming out of the second half, we thought we had a little momentum that we could try to get back and stay in the game, but we just played a little flat,” Bennett said. “We’ve got some girls hurt. Getting Brooklyn Stubblefield back will be big for us, and getting Olivia Brawley will be big for us and getting Kiersten Powell back will be good for us. We are hurt all the way around, but Columbus North is a good team and all we can do is keep building.”
