CROSSVILLE, TENNESSEE

Richard Paul Doughty, 76, of Crossville, Tennessee, former Waldron resident, passed away December 25, 2018 at Park West Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Born February 21, 1942 in Hancock County, he was the son of Paul Doughty and Margaret (Stoner) Doughty

He married Karen (Sever) Doughty on July 25, 1975 and she survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Steven Doughty(wife Beth) of Crawfordsville, Joshua Doughty(wife Jennifer) of Terre Haute, daughter Tara Maxey(husband Bill) of Franklin; brother Philip Doughty of Greenfield, sister Marjorie Ratliff of Greenfield; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr.Doughty had lived in Tennessee for 11 years after moving from Waldron. He was a minister, self employed farmer, and elementary school teacher his entire working career. He graduated from Carthage High School in 1960, graduated from Asbury College in 1964, attended Asbury Seminary, and graduated from Christian Theology Seminary in 1968 with a Masters of Divinity, and graduated from Ball State University in 1975 with a Masters of Arts in Elementary Education.

He pastored United Methodist Churches in North & South Indiana Conferences, and Pacific Northwest Conference, and also pastored the Quaker Church in Carthage.

Richard enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, spending time with his grandchildren, and telling them stories.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Glenn E. George and Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with burial in Van Pelt Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Memorial contributions can be made to Waldron United Methodist Church, Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church, or Plateau Pregnancy Services of Crossville Tennessee, in care of the funeral home.
