Police searching for man who held friend against will

<p>Police are looking for a man who held an acquaintance in his apartment for nearly 10 hours under the threat of violence.</p><p>A man with blood running down his face flagged down a motorist just before 6 a.m. Friday, telling the motorist his friend had not let him leave his apartment since 8 p.m. Thursday night, according to a report from the Franklin Police Department.</p><p>The victim told police that he was staying with a friend in an apartment in the 300 block of East Monroe Street in Franklin when he decided to pack up his belongings and stay in another friend’s home, the report said.</p><p>The friend came home while the victim was getting ready to leave. The man forced the locked door open and took the victim’s cell phone, according to the report.</p><p>The man punched the victim, hit him in the back of the head and threatened to kill him if he left. The victim screamed for help repeatedly through the night while the man held him hostage with a hammer and butcher knife. Around 6 a.m. the man told the victim he could leave and the victim left.</p><p>Police are seeking criminal charges against the man.</p>
