Letter: Letter to the editor: Railroad crossing is too dangerous

To the editor:

On the evening of March 19, a young woman was in her vehicle and was hit by a train at Tracy Road and Emerson.

This track is very dangerous. There are no bars at that track; plus, on the northeast side of the track, there is a row of trees that block the view of a train coming. You have to get almost on top of the track to see a clear view. They need to cut those trees and that brush back and keep it cut back. I am surprised this hasn’t happened before now. In the summer, it is especially problematic!

School buses go over those tracks right there all day long, every day. One life is bad enough. We don’t want more than that. Whoever is responsible for that part of the track needs to take action NOW. Even if it isn’t Whiteland or New Whiteland, I would think it would be nice of them to go together and take care of the problem to keep their citizens safe! Do what is right, people!

Diane Brownlee

New Whiteland
