Woman arrested for firing shots in the air, injuring an officer

<p>An Indianapolis woman was arrested after police said she fired shots into the air, resisted arrest and kicked a police officer.</p><p>Tammy Cooper, 29, 3415 Boulevard Place, was arrested on charges of resisting law enforcement, public intoxication, criminal recklessness, criminal mischief, battery on a public safety officer and failure to return to lawful detention.</p><p>Police received multiple phone calls regarding shots being fired at 3:47 a.m. Saturday in the 700 block of Woodale Terrace in Greenwood.</p><p>An officer found Cooper in the driver’s seat of the vehicle with several bullets in her hands and on her legs. She was also holding an empty magazine, according to a report from the Greenwood Police Department.</p><p>The officer asked Cooper to step out of the vehicle. When she did, the officer saw a rifle against the outer edge of the seat, according to the report.</p><p>She told an officer she was firing bullets into the air, the report said.</p><p>An officer buckled Cooper into his vehicle, but Cooper unbuckled her seat belt. The officer then called a transport van for the jail and Cooper refused to get into the van. When an officer was helping her into the van, she kicked the officer, according to the report.</p><p>Cooper was taken to the Johnson County Jail, where she was held on $10,600 bond.</p>
