Schools take extra precautions after report

Franklin Community Middle School and Northwood Elementary School took extra precautions before allowing people inside the school buildings this morning after a woman reported a suspicious man in the neighborhood.

The report filed with the Franklin Police Department had nothing to do with the schools, but school officials decided to take extra precautions, school superintendent David Clendening said.

Activities inside the school were normal, but staff questioned visitors even more than normal before allowing them inside the building.

A woman in the neighborhood had reported a suspicious man, and police could not locate the suspect, Police Chief Kirby Cochran said.
