Hohlt has seven catches in Ball State spring game

<p>Ball State sophomore receiver <strong>Trevor Hohlt</strong> finished the Cardinals’ annual spring football game with a team-high seven receptions for 70 yards. The Center Grove graduate’s 29-yard catch was instrumental in setting up one of the scoring drives.</p><p><strong>CENTER GROVE</strong></p><p>University of Indianapolis sophomore pole vaulter <strong>Kylie Falcone</strong> finished second at the Ball State Challenge with a best of 3.65 meters.</p><p>Davidson senior <strong>Tori Long</strong> helped the 4×100 relay win its heat and place fifth overall at the Charlotte Invitational in a time of 48.29 seconds.</p><p>Indiana senior sprinter <strong>Derek Grimmer</strong> helped the Hoosiers’ 4×400 relay finish fourth at the Tennessee Relays in a time of 3:12.81.</p><p>Black Hills State (South Dakota) junior catcher <strong>Maddie London</strong> had a home run and single in the team’s 7-1 loss to the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.</p><p>Sophomore leftfielder <strong>Lexi Gaffney</strong> helped Franklin College softball sweep Bluffton with four hits and three runs in the two games combined. She supplied two hits and two runs to the team splitting a doubleheader against St. Mary’s.</p><p>UIndy leadoff hitter <strong>Hanna Burris</strong> had a double and two runs in her team’s 8-6 win over Rockhurst.</p><p>Junior second baseman <strong>Mandy Dallas</strong> hit a home run for IUPUI in the first game of a doubleheader against Oakland (Michigan) and then had two singles in the nightcap. Jaguars’ third baseman <strong>Delainey Turner</strong> had three singles in the second game. In a 19-9 loss to UIC, Dallas drove in five runs with three hits, including a double and home run.</p><p>Taylor senior <strong>Courtney Moriarty</strong> hit two home runs, a double and two singles in the Trojans’ softball sweep of Huntington. She added a single, double, home run and stolen base in a doubleheader sweep of Grace College.</p><p>Cincinnati freshman golfer <strong>Sam Jean</strong> tied for 58th individually at Purdue’s rain-shortened Boilermaker Invitational with a score of 74-75—149. Indiana University sophomore Ethan Shepherd tied for 86th at 79-76—155.</p><p>IUPUI senior golfer <strong>Austin Crowder</strong> helped the Jaguars to a second-place finish at the Wright State Invitational by tying for 16th individually with a score of 72-74—146.</p><p>Franklin College junior golfer <strong>Jackson Williams</strong> shot 78-82—160 to tie for 43rd at the Indiana Small College championships in French Lick.</p><p>Indiana Wesleyan pitcher <strong>Conner Cantrell</strong> tossed a complete game in a 10-2 triumph over Bethel, allowing five hits and striking out two. Teammate <strong>Nick Coy</strong> had a double and scored a run. <strong>Tye Thixton</strong> had two singles and a home run in the team’s 3-1 loss at Grace, which got two home runs from shortstop <strong>Ethan Brooks.</strong> Coy had a double and single in the second game, an 11-1 IWU triumph.</p><p>UIndy senior <strong>Devon Hensley</strong> had two singles in the Greyhounds’ 7-3 win over William Jewell. He had two hits and stole a base in the second game, a 3-1 victory. Hensley had two singles and stolen base in a doubleheader against Lake Erie.</p><p><strong>FRANKLIN</strong></p><p>Freshman linebacker <strong>Clayton Coll</strong> finished Ball State’s spring football game with four tackles.</p><p>The Indiana Division III track and field championships at DePauw included Manchester sophomore <strong>Travis Murr</strong> placing eighth in the 100-meter dash and ninth in the 200. Franklin College runners <strong>Blaine Conners</strong> and <strong>J.T. Sargent</strong> placed 18th in the 1,500-meter run and 3,000-meter steeplechase, respectively.</p><p>Butler’s <strong>Chandler McGaha</strong> finished sixth out of 44 runners in the 800 at the Ball State Challenge in a time of 1:55.5.</p><p>Two former Grizzly Cubs competed in the Illinois Twilight meet as IUPUI’s <strong>Josh Campbell</strong> was 38th in the 5,000-meter run and Vincennes freshman <strong>Nick Riggles</strong> was ninth in the 400-meter hurdles.</p><p>Franklin College golfer <strong>Jacob Hash</strong> and Vincennes freshman <strong><strong>Matt Jordan</strong></strong> tied for 33rd individually with scores of 157 at the Indiana Small College championships in French Lick.</p><p>Franklin College DH <strong>Jacob Heuchan</strong> drove in a run with a triple in the Grizzlies’ 13-4 victory over Manchester. Heuchan had a single and double in the second game, a 9-5 Franklin win.</p><p>Judson (Illinois) catcher <strong>Alec MacLennan</strong> had three hits in an 8-7 loss to St. Ambrose (Iowa) in the second game of a doubleheader.</p><p><strong>INDIAN CREEK</strong></p><p>Freshman shortstop <strong>Sydney Logdson</strong> had a big day for Franklin College softball in a sweep of Bluffton, producing five hits in six at-bats while driving in five runs.</p><p><strong>GREENWOOD</strong></p><p>Wabash College freshman <strong>Ethan Pine</strong> took fourth in the 1,500-meter run in 3:57.96 at the Indiana Division III track and field meet at DePauw.</p><p>UIndy pitcher <strong>Reid Werner</strong> worked the first 8 1/3 innings in the team’s 3-1 victory over William Jewell, allowing eight hits and striking out three.</p><p>Taylor freshman <strong>T.J. Bass</strong> had a triple and a single in a 13-4 win over Marian.</p><p><strong>WHITELAND</strong></p><p>Senior center fielder <strong>Monica Collins</strong> provided Franklin College two hits and three runs in a doubleheader sweep at Bluffton.</p><p><strong>GREENWOOD CHRISTIAN</strong></p><p>Sophomore pitcher <strong>Krae Sparks</strong> got the start for Franklin College baseball’s 9-5 victory over Manchester. He pitched three innings, allowing four hits and five runs.</p><p><strong>RONCALLI/OTHER</strong></p><p>Senior first baseman <strong>Drew Naumovich</strong> blasted a three-run homer for the Franklin College baseball team in a 13-4 defeat of Manchester. The Greenwood resident had a single and scored two runs in the second game, a 9-5 Franklin College win, and two hits, two runs and a steal in a 19-8 victory at Rose-Hulman.</p><p>Franciscan University of Steubenville (Ohio) sophomore softball player and Greenwood resident <strong>Allyson Weiss</strong> earned Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the Week honors. She hit three home runs and drove in eight runs over four games for the Lady Barons.</p>
