Garden Club hosts annual celebration

<p>Green thumbs can learn tricks and tips on how to grow plants and attract hummingbirds to their gardens and can buy new gardening wares and decorations for their landscaping.</p><p>The annual Garden Celebration is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 4, 2019, at the Johnson County Fairgrounds, 101 Foarground St., Franklin.</p><p>The 15th annual Johnson County Garden Club public event will include more than 50 flower, plant and garden art vendors, along with three guest speakers.</p><p>Indianapolis gardening expert Carol Michel will be featured at 9:30 a.m. She has written gardening books, including “Ready, Set, Garden: Planning the Best Garden Ever,” which is set to be released this spring.</p><p>Author-educator Sharon Sorenson, from Mount Vernon, will discuss how vital hummingbirds are to your garden in her 11 a.m. presentation “Hooked on Hummingbirds.” She has authored two books, “Birds in the Yard: Month by Month,” and “Planting Native to Attract Birds to Your Yard.” Sorenson’s upcoming book, “How Birds Behave,” will be published this fall.</p><p>Families can take part in an interactive program featuring the Utopia Wildlife Rehabilitators at 1 p.m.</p><p>Seed packets and tree saplings will be given away free while supplies last.</p><p>Admission is $2 at the door.
