FRANKLIN FFA PLANT SALE, May 4, 5 and 11, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sundays, Franklin Community High School, 2600 Cumberland Drive.

An annual plant sale will help local students run a school program.

The Franklin FFA kicks off their second weekend of their annual plant sale. Proceeds from the sale will benefit their activities throughout the year.

The sale will feature vegetable plants, herbs, geraniums and flower baskets.

CANNING IN JOHNSON COUNTY, newest exhibit at the Johnson County Museum of History. Opening reception is 6 to 8 p.m. May 2, 135 N. Main St., Franklin. This exhibit will discuss the history of the canning industry in Johnson County.

People who want to learn how county residents of the past helped preserve the nation’s food during the mid-20th century can check out the Johnson County Museum of History’s latest exhibit.

Canning in Johnson County kicks off with a free opening reception today from 6 to 8 p.m. A talk of canning will be at 6:15 p.m. Refreshments and appetizers will be served.

This exhibit will discuss the history of the canning industry in Johnson County. At one time, Johnson County was the number one canning county in the state.
