Letter: Anti-gun columnist should check facts, reality

To the editor:

To Michael Leppert and others of his ilk.

Your criticism of guns and their manufacturers is packed with flaws. I am surprised that you are a public and governmental affairs consultant of anything. To bolster your position, you cherry pick statistics. Then you make completely ignorant statements about the AR-15. The AR-15 (military designation M-16) is an assault rifle and is NOT available to the public. It is manufactured for the military and it IS a MACHINE GUN! How can you say these can delivered to buyers “like a pizza”?

Now you want to delve into American massacres and support the anti-gun mentality by describing all the deaths caused by criminals, accidents, mentally deficient people and gun manufacturers. There are more Americans killed EVERY DAY by automobile accidents! There are more Americans killed EVERY DAY by “legal abortions!” There are more Americans killed EVERY DAY by drug overdoses!

I agree that the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention must, by study, recommend that a law MUST be enacted to prevent bad things; including criminals.

I am compelled to remind Mr. Leppert and his friends that the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution is the only amendment that “shall not be infringed.”
