Man robbed at Greenwood apartment complex

Greenwood police are looking for a suspect after a man went to an apartment to buy a phone and was robbed, police said.

A man reported at 4:45 p.m. Monday that he went to an apartment at Polo Run Apartments to purchase a cell phone for $180. The man had arranged to buy a cell phone via an app that’s used for buying or selling items, according to a report from the Greenwood Police Department.

A masked man answered the door, pointed a gun at him and attempted to pull him into the apartment, according to the report.

The masked man with the gun told the buyer to “give me the money…I ain’t playing around,” the report said.

The men struggled in the apartment hallway and the man who was buying the cell phone was able to get out of the apartment hallway and into his car, according to the report.

The suspected man with a gun was described as a male who is 6’2 and 140 pounds, who was carrying a cell phone with a Chicago Bulls case.

Officers at the scene believe that the apartment where the incident took place was recently vacated, the report said.
