Letter: Letter to the editor: Mike Pflum

To the editor:

Elections have consequences and that reality is setting in on both sides of the isle.

For three solid years, Democrats have been searching for something that would take out Trump. Their hatred for Trump is on full display as they plead with the Senate to build the case Nadler and Schiff failed to.

Meanwhile, down in Virginia, buyer’s remorse is flowing in the opposite direction after Michael Bloomberg’s investments flipped that red state to blue. That remorse was most widely displayed by gun owners who are only now seeing how devastating life under Democrat rule can be.

Thousands risk going to bed as law-abiding citizens and waking as felons because they own a mean looking rifle or magazine that holds too many rounds. But that isn’t the worst of it.

While all eyes were focused on the donkey defecating on the 2nd and 4th amendments Virginia Democrats moved to further transform the state into a banana republic. They initiated a whole series of socialistic bills to include:

SB 399 – Forcing Virginia’s Electoral College votes to be awarded to the winner of the national popular vote rather than the Electoral College. (Potentially nullifying Virginian’ votes in presidential races.)

SJ 29 – Electing the governor by majority of votes in congressional districts, not by statewide majority. In case of a tie, the General Assembly (which they now control) will pick the winner.

SJ 6 – Amending the State Constitution to increases the term limit of the governor from 4 to 8 years.

SB 65 – Repeals the photo ID requirements for voting

SJ 8 – Allows Felons and those declared mentally incompetent to vote. (No potential for voter fraud or manipulation there!)

And just in case SJ8 fails, promote SJ14 as a backup by restoring voting rights to convicted felons.

All of this from a state that has for decades prided itself as “standing against tyranny.” But these aren’t the most revealing glimpses into the souls of liberal Democrats. That award belongs to Rep. Adam Schiff, D-California, who in his exuberance to impeach Trump proudly announced yesterday that “we can no longer trust voters to do the right thing at the ballot box.” He actually pleaded the Senate take out a sitting president not yet convicted because he is afraid the American people are dumb enough to re-elect Trump.

Let that sink in. Schiff doesn’t trust you to vote correctly.

Mike Pflum

Martinsville
