Franklin College eyes fall reopening

Administrators at Franklin College hope to return to in-person classes this fall.

Classes have been held virtually since March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Administrators will spend the summer months creating a detailed plan for how to do so, President Kerry Prather said in a Franklin College news release.

Although the college hopes to go back to a more traditional style of learning, ultimately, the college will have to heed the advice of medical experts to decide whether it is safe to do so, Prather said in the news release.

“Decisions will ultimately be guided by our local health care professionals, particularly our partners at Johnson Memorial Health, with whom we have established an on-demand testing protocol,” Prather said.

The fall semester is set to start Aug. 31. Franklin College is looking forward to welcoming students back to campus, he said.

“We are looking forward to returning to the engaged, one-on-one interaction that distinguishes the Franklin College experience, and I know our students are looking forward to being back home on their campus,” he said.
