Letter: Whatever you do, please vote

To the editor:

Some voters do not feel they have really voted unless they vote in person on Election Day, June 5 this year. But things are different this year and you will enjoy reviewing the sample ballot sent with your absentee information.

According to the sample ballot, the next Greenwood City Court Judge is likely to be Judge Goofy.

Anyone can consider voting absentee. No long lines and less risk of being exposed to the coronavirus. The application deadline for requesting an absentee ballot is today. Either call 317-346-4466 for an application or go online. An application can be filled out online, but must be received by the voter registration office no later than today.

The sample ballot also lists two candidates for City of Greenwood Mayor: Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse. Can you guess the sample ballot listed names for clerk and council members? Someone had fun making up the sample ballot.

Your completed absentee ballot must be received by the Voter Registration Office by noon June 5. If you received your absentee ballot but feel compelled to go stand in a long line with possible COVID-19 asymptomatic carriers, then take your unmarked absentee ballot to the poll and vote; along with rain gear or sun screen, food and drink, sanitizer and a mask. But whatever, please vote.
