Letter: Hopper is committed to Republic principles

To the editor:

Experience and knowledge matter. That is why I encourage everyone to vote for David Hopper for House District 58. David has more experience in state and local government than any other candidate.

He has served in the administrations of Governors Daniels, Pence and Holcomb. He has served the citizens of District 5 with extreme competence and honor over the past 8 years. He served three years as council president and currently serves as the president of the city’s Redevelopment Commission.

Hopper’s influence has helped shape major initiatives in Greenwood including the enormously, successful Freedom Springs Aquatic Center, City Center Park, the redeveloped Old City Park and the upcoming baseball complex. He has been actively involved in major economic development projects such as Cummins, Amazon, Ulta and Wurth.

David has been an active member of the Republican Party here in Johnson County for years. He has been a longtime precinct committeeman. He served as chairman of the Johnson County Young Republicans. He has been a delegate to the State Convention. Hopper has probably been to more Johnson County Lincoln Day dinners, Chairwoman’s cookouts and Republican nights at the county fair than the other four candidates combined. His public commitment to Republican principles is longstanding.

David has been a public health professional for more than five years, serving Hoosiers as the Director of Local Health Department Outreach at the Indiana State Department of Health. In the COVID-19 pandemic we find ourselves a part of, no candidate is better suited to balance the economic and health considerations of District 58 as we navigate through these difficult waters ahead.

For these reasons and countless more, I encourage everyone vote for David Hopper.
