Letter: Thank you, Grill Bar

To the editor:

I want to thank Larry and Manilla Hughes, owners of the Grill Bar in Franklin, for being actively anti-racist; in saying no, we will not condone racism in our establishment.

Thank you for supporting Black, Indigenous and People of Color as employees and patrons. In such a divided time in our country, it is a breath of fresh air to know that you support diversity and the value of Black lives. I know your employee, Jessica Daudy Hamm, couldn’t be prouder of her employers.

Knowing you won’t allow racial slurs in your establishment makes it clear that you are not content just to have the best cheeseburgers in town; you’re actively working to be the kind of place that will continue to make Franklin grow and thrive. By your refusal to tolerate hate, you have made it clear that the Grill Bar is something of which Franklin can justly be proud.

Franklin is a great city. Thanks for being an integral part of it.

Michelle Waugh Dahl

Franklin
