Martin John Bell went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 8th 2020, at the age of 93. He was a resident of Greenwood.

Martin John Bell was born October 7, 1926 in Indianapolis to the late Ada Grace Ward and William Henry Albert Bell. He was from a big family with 12 siblings.

Martin grew up on the southside of Indianapolis and met his wife, Norma Mae Bell, in Fountain Square. They were able to celebrate over 70 years of marriage together.

Martin proudly served his country by serving in the Navy during World War II. He was stationed on the USS Lake Champlain as a range setter. After the Navy, Martin worked as a transportation engineer with the teamsters and co-owned Norma’s Pizza with his wife. He also had a farm for many years where he raised pigs and cows and had a big garden.

Martin enjoyed traveling, slots at the casino and the friendly family poker game.

Martin is survived by four of his siblings Joanne McPeak, Jean Shrum, Donna Lou Beckley & Janie Mansfield; his five children, Gloria Hinkle(Ed), Martin Lee Bell (Ona), Cynthia Bell (Linda), Jeanette Cloud (Steven), and Pamela Berzins (David); eight grandchildren, Tina, Tyra, Randy, Angie, Steven, Amber, Stacey and Amy; 17 great-grandchildren, Alexander, Katelyn, Alisha, McKenzie, Zachary, Kayla, Jordan, Kyle, Cody, Evan, Jaden, Lilly, Violet, Ashlynn, Alana, Ava and Aubrey; and five great-great grandchildren.

Calling will be Thursday, August 13th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Service immediately following at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St, Greenwood. A procession will follow to the graveside service where Military honors will take place at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Greenwood.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be given to Riley Hospital for Children.

Due to recent COVID-19 mandates, all guests are required to wear face coverings or masks at visitations and services.
