<p>For the Daily Journal</p><p>COLUMBUS</p><p>After only 41 seconds in Monday night’s girls soccer match against 3A No. 15 Columbus North, Franklin sensed it was going to be a long night.</p><p>The Grizzly Cubs couldn’t stop the bleeding as one of the top soccer players in the state, North’s Jenna Lang, scored a double hat trick in the first half to help hand Franklin to a 10-1 loss.</p><p>The Grizzly Cubs couldn’t stop Lang and the Bull Dogs’ offensive attack.</p><p>“Our back line is really young so when it comes to being able to stop anyone, let alone a player like Jenna Lang, was going to be difficult for us,” Franklin coach Michael Pierson said. “So basically getting our young core in the back to realize the space that they need to stop the leadoff offense like that.”</p><p>Even though Franklin goalkeeper Addison Marshall recorded 19 saves, it was a very tough night against one of the Bull Dogs’ best offensive productions.</p><p>“She honestly will keep us pretty competitive throughout the year,” Pierson said. “She was getting shot after shot, and she’s going to get more now. She’s taken a lot of our big kicks, so she is going to wear down. I feel like she is one of the better keepers in the state.”</p><p>After Helena Ho delivered the opening goal 41 seconds in for North (3-1), it became all Lang the rest of the game. Lang’s first goal came off a nice ball in from Lauryn Whitley, with Lang taking the touch and finish to go ahead 2-0 in the 11th minute.</p><p>Lang’s second goal came after one of her shots was saved, as she got the finish off the rebound to make it 3-0 in the 16th minute. She finished a hat trick in the 21st minute to put the Bull Dogs ahead 4-0.</p><p>Lang scored again in the 25th minute when she made a turn past her defender and sent a laser shot into the back of the net. The glut goal came in the 31st minute when she had another breakaway, and her attempt found the net to give North a 6-0 lead.</p><p>The double hat trick for Lang came in the 38th minute. Franklin avoided the shutout when Emma Williams found the net to make it 7-1 just before halftime.</p><p>In the second half, Alexa McKinley scored two goals for the Bull Dogs and Lauren Barker added another.</p><p>The Grizzly Cubs (2-2) host Decatur Central on Wednesday.</p>
