Edinburgh football loses at Traders Point

Edinburgh’s night got off to a frustrating start at Traders Point Christian, as the Lancers fell into an early four-touchdown hole and saw head coach Tyler DeSpain get ejected.

Though the team fought back, the big deficit was too much to overcome in a 55-36 road loss.

"Our kids didn’t give up," DeSpain said after the game. "It just sucks getting down that quick and that much, but our kids did a good job of fighting."

Down 28-0 after the first quarter, the Lancers (1-6) got on the board with a 54-yard touchdown pass from Riley Palmeter to Caleb Dewey. The Knights (2-3) responded to make it 35-8, but Palmeter then hooked up with Landen Burton on an 18-yard scoring pass with 7:19 to go in the third quarter.

The Lancers could not get any closer than 19 the rest of the way, however.

Though he is now prevented from being on the sideline next week, DeSpain feels good about his team’s chances to rebound at home against Rock Creek Academy.

"We’ll be able to fight back," he said. "We think it’s a winnable game."
