Snyder’s clutch kick lifts Ragin’ Cajuns

Louisiana kicker Nate Snyder drilled a 53-yard field goal as time expired to give the 19th-ranked Ragin’ Cajuns a 20-18 victory over visiting Georgia Southern. The Center Grove graduate made another field goal from 25 yards, booted a pair of point-afters and averaged 58.5 yards on his five kickoffs in the win.

CENTER GROVE

Senior defensive back Russ Yeast finished with seven tackles in the Louisville football team’s 23-20 loss at Pitt.

Valparaiso freshman Alex Heck made his first college tournament memorable, shooting 78-74-73—225 to help lead the Crusaders to a win at the 13-team Flyer Intercollegiate in Lemont, Illinois.

Southern Indiana freshman Peyton Short shot 80-79-79—238 to tie for 56th at the Brickyard Invitational in Indianapolis.

Grace College golfer Lucy Young was named the NCCAA National Golfer of the Week after the sophomore led the Lancers to the championship of the Pure Michigan Invitational. Earlier this week, Young carded an 87 to finish fourth individually as Grace lost a dual match at Valparaiso, 353-370.

Sophomore Isabella Schoolcraft helped lead the Valparaiso tennis team to a 7-0 defeat of Huntington, winning matches at No. 1 doubles and No. 4 singles.

FRANKLIN

Taylor golfer Javan Johnson tied for 37th at the Brickyard Invitational in Indianapolis, shooting scores of 80, 75 and 74 for a 229 total.

University of Indianapolis sophomore Andrew Bixler took 16th at the Great Lakes Valley Conference triangular cross country meet in Carmel with a time of 19 minutes, 41.7 seconds.

WHITELAND

Sophomore Mika Long, a runner for the UIndy men’s cross country team, posted a time of 20:11.5 to place 24th at the Great Lakes Valley Conference triangular meet.

GREENWOOD

Grace tennis player Jacob Gray helped the Lancers advance to the title match of the Crossroads League tournament with a win at No. 2 doubles in a quarterfinal defeat of Bethel.

Huntington goalkeeper Maddy Moan made five saves in the team’s 0-0 tie at St. Francis and two in a 3-0 loss to Mt. Vernon Nazarene.

UIndy sophomore Brandon Albin finished 51st in 23:07.5 at the Great Lakes Valley Conference triangular meet.

INDIAN CREEK

With a time of 21:23.6, UIndy sophomore Shae Biddle secured 23rd place at the Great Lakes Valley Conference triangular meet.

GREENWOOD CHRISTIAN

University of Indianapolis cross country runner Anna Subris finished 31st at the Great Lakes Valley Conference triangular meet in a time of 24:51.1.

RONCALLI

Neil O’Brien, a Whiteland resident and senior cross country runner for Trine, helped his team win a 13-team event at Olivet Nazarene, taking third in a time of 15:48.30.
