Thixton helps Wildcats cap undefeated tennis season

Indiana Wesleyan men’s tennis player Trey Thixton helped the Wildcats finish their fall season with a 14-0 record. The freshman, a Center Grove graduate, scored a straight-set victory at No. 5 singles in IWU’s 7-0 shutout of IU Southeast.

CENTER GROVE

Sophomore golfer Lucy Young shot 77-74—151 for 22nd-ranked Grace College (NAIA), tying her career-best two-round total, as both she and her team finished second at the Battle of Stonehenge at Winona Lake, Indiana.

University of Indianapolis freshman Gabrielle Harrell ran a time of 25:18.42 to place 36th at the Great Lakes Valley Conference East Divisional cross country meet in Springfield, Illinois.

IU Southeast volleyball player Santina Schembra contributed 10 digs in the team’s five-set loss at WVU Tech.

Duke sophomore Erica Shepherd shot a 3-under-par score of 69-70-74—213 to tie for third at the Golfweek Purdue Amateur tournament at the Ackerman-Allen Course in West Lafayette.

Defensive back Russ Yeast had three tackles for the Louisville football team in a 46-27 loss at Georgia Tech.

Louisiana kicker Nate Snyder made three conversion kicks and averaged 45 yards on five kickoffs in the team’s 30-27 home loss to Coastal Carolina.

FRANKLIN

Junior Emma Treibic placed 24th for the UIndy women’s cross country team at the Great Lakes Valley Conference East Divisional Championships. She completed the course in a time of 24 minutes, 2.71 seconds.

Vincennes University golfer Matt Jordan, a sophomore, finished with a birdie and eagle to place third at the Lincoln Trail Fall Invitational in Robinson, Illinois. The 36-hole event finished with the Trailblazers finishing third out of six teams.

GREENWOOD

Brandon Albin, a sophomore for the UIndy men’s cross country team, placed 14th at the Great Lakes Valley Conference East Divisional meet. The Greenwood graduate ran the 8K course in a time of 30 minutes, 27.18 seconds.

Grace College junior Jacob Gray won his No. 3 doubles match to help the Lancers finish the fall season with a 12-2 record.
