Carl “Roger” Goff, 97, of Franklin, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2020.

He was born on December 30, 1922 in Franklin to Carl Wesley Goff and Florence Elmo (Bunker) Goff. He married Martha (Setser) Goff in 1951. She preceded him in passing on September 13, 2000. He is survived by their two children, Anthony “Tony” Goff of Franklin and Julie (Ren?) Olibo of Franklin. Also surviving are grandchildren, Erin Sparks, Jordan Sanders (Brian), and Marcus Olibo (Crystal); great-grandchildren, Rylee Fields, Jackson Sparks, Cohen & Landon Olibo and Eli Sanders and great-great granddaughter, Marlee Fields, on the way. He was preceded in passing by his parents; wife, Martha; great-granddaughter, Elena Sanders; brother, James Goff and sister, Roberta Garrett.

Roger was a 1941 graduate of Alva Neal High School (now Franklin Community High School). He attended Ball State University and Franklin College. Roger served proudly in the Coast Guard from 1942 to 1945.

He had worked at Allison Transmission, Chevrolet and Franklin Pure Milk. He later was employed by Eli Lilly in the insulin department from 1948 until retirement in 1984.

He was a member of New Life Baptist Church, Franklin American Legion Post 205, and the NRA. He coached Franklin Little League for five years with all winning seasons.

He enjoyed CB radios and rode a motorcycle later in life. He enjoyed working on cars. He loved music, listening to New Orleans Jazz and Big Band. He loved to eat out, especially at Cracker Barrel.

He had a certainty of eternal life because of his faith in Jesus Christ alone.

Pastor Frank Finney will conduct a graveside service on Friday, November 13, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.

A celebratory gathering will take place on Saturday, December 5 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at New Life Baptist Church, 751 Nineveh Road, Franklin, Indiana 46131.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to New Life Baptist Church, 751 Nineveh Road, Franklin, Indiana 46131.
