GREENWOOD, IN.
David Shane Buchanan; 60 years old of Greenwood, IN passed away Friday December 4, 2020 at the Indiana Masonic Home at Compass Park. He was born February 26, 1960 in St. Louis, MO to Marvin D. and Ruth A. (Rossell) Buchanan. He was a 1978 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School in Mt. Vernon, IN and attended Indiana University Southeast. He married his wife of 36 years; Donna L. (Sanders) Buchanan on October 20, 1984 at Greenwood Christian Church.
He worked as a commercial real estate agent for Mansur Realty and later REIT Management in Indianapolis for over 30 years combined. His latest position was with Amazon in Greenwood, IN.
He was a Christian man and member of Emmanuel Church of Greenwood at Stones Crossing.
He had a passion for coaching Basketball; he coached his daughter’s teams and also additional elementary and middle school basketball teams for Center Grove Community Schools and Whiteland Community School corporations.
He was the State Master Counselor for the Indiana DeMolay from 1980 until 1981. He enjoyed watching Indiana University Basketball, golfing, the St. Louis Cardinals, spending time with his family and trips to Destin, FL. Survivors include his wife Donna L. (Sanders) Buchanan of Greenwood, IN, his children Broch David Buchanan (Mackenzie) of Indianapolis, IN, Bridget Leigh Ayers (Robert Dale) of St. John, FL, Blake Nicole Brown (Alexander) of Indianapolis, IN and Baileigh Ann Buchanan of Greenwood, IN, five grandchildren Tripp Ryan Ayers, Sawyer Maze Ayers, Robert Andrew Ayers, Addison Kay Ayers and Baby Brown due May 15th, 2021, his mother Ruth A. (Rossell) Buchanan of Indianapolis, IN, sisters Renee Buchanan-Fethlan of Evansville, IN and Chari Buchanan-Walker of Evansville, IN. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin D. Buchanan and a sister, Tammy Sue Bredemeier. He was so loved and will be missed by many!
Due to COVID-19 mandates, the Reverend Marion Glover will conduct a memorial service on Friday December 11, 2020 at 7PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed for family and friends to connect at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/david-buchanan. Strict guidelines of 50 people or less at one time will be required along with facial covering mask to be worn for those attending. The family request those attending the visitation and not attending the service make their visit brief so everyone can be accommodated.
