James Keith "Jim" Hicks 77 of Franklin, IN passed away Friday December 4, 2020 at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis, IN. He was born November 1, 1943 at Camp Atterbury in Edinburgh, IN to James Daniel Hicks and Aline E. (Emerson) Hicks. He married Loretta Fay (Holcomb) Hicks on December 14, 1962 at First Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Franklin, IN, she survives. He graduate from Franklin Community High School in 1962 as one of the first classes at the new high school at the time where he excelled in basketball. He was employed by Cummins Engine in Columbus for 47 years retiring in 2010. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Franklin, IN. Jim was a loving husband of 58 years of marriage and his number one love was Jesus Christ and he loved his children more than anything and was there for them and the grandchildren equally and so proud of all of them. He enjoyed spending time with his wife Loretta after retirement as they traveled, attending a lot of church time and doing what he enjoyed the most, telling the people about Jesus. He and his wife Loretta spent three years in the study of Theology. He was from having completed two test before graduation but unforeseen circumstances took him home to be with the lord. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, gardening and doing yardwork with his beautiful wife Loretta. Survivors include his wife Loretta Fay (Holcomb) Hicks of Franklin, IN, a son Greg Hicks (Jenni) of Franklin, IN, a daughter Ronda Middleton (Tony) of Franklin, IN, grandchildren Josh Hicks (Amanda) of Greenwood, IN, Anthony Scott (Logan) of Westfield, IN, Krystal Scott (Ethen) of Muncie, IN and Jakob Hicks of Franklin. He was preceded in death by his parents. Due to COVID-19 Mandates, the Reverend Fred Brown will conduct a private service on Friday December 11, 2020 at 2PM and will be live-streamed for family and friends to connect at <a href="http://www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/james-hicks">www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/james-hicks</a>. A public visitation will take place on Thursday December 10, 2020 from 5PM until 8PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN. Strict guidelines of 50 people or less at one time will be required, along with facial covering or mask to be worn by those attending. The family request that those who are attending make their visit brief so everyone can be accommodated. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
