Two charged in Edinburgh meth dealing investigation

Johnson County prosecutors filed meth dealing charges against an Edinburgh couple after a two-month investigation by Edinburgh police.

Shawn B. Park, 32, and Monica L. Gilp, 31, were charged with dealing methamphetamine; Park on a Level 2 felony and Gilp on a Level 4 felony. Gilp was also charged with controlled substance and paraphernalia possession, both misdemeanors.

Park could face up to 30 years in prison if convicted, and Gilp could face more than 12 years.

Edinburgh police on Dec. 10 went to Gilp’s apartment to serve a warrant on Park and found multiple types of drugs and paraphernalia, materials commonly used to package drugs with the intention to sell, multiple cell phones, digital scales and a large amount of cash, the report says.

Gilp answered the door and did not comply with three requests to get down, so police “assisted her” to the ground, according to an Edinburgh Police Department report. A red mark on her face was photographed for evidence, the report says.

Police apprehended Park without incident, according to the report.

Police found about 79 grams of meth in a zipper bag in Park’s pants pocket, inside a black zip pouch, the report says.

Officers found about 13 grams of methamphetamine on the kitchen table in plain view, along with some marijuana. Paraphernalia was also found in a kitchen drawer, according to the report.

In the living room, police found a Crown Royal bag containing marijuana and syringes. And in the bedroom, police found more paraphernalia and several Xanax pills in a cigarette pack, the report says.

Both Park and Gilp have previous drug-dealing convictions.

Before this arrest, Park was out on bond for a charge of leaving the scene of a crash causing serious bodily injury. The police report for that accident says Park left the scene of the accident, though he knew there was an injured person.
