Utterback off to good start for Findlay basketball

<p>Senior guard <strong>Allison Utterback</strong> helped the Findlay women’s basketball team down Tiffin, 81-75, with nine points, two assists and a steal. Utterback, who played at Center Grove, is the Oilers’ fourth-leading scorer (7.3 ppg) and tied for second in assists (1.7) going into today’s game against Kentucky Wesleyan.</p><p><strong>CENTER GROVE</strong></p><p><strong>Spencer Piercefield</strong> started in the backcourt for NAIA No. 1 Indiana Wesleyan, and responded with nine points, three rebounds and five assists in a 115-89 downing of Huntington. He had one point, three rebounds and two assists in a 90-60 victory over Park-Gilbert.</p><p>Indiana men’s basketball defeated North Alabama, 87-52, as sophomore <strong>Trayce Jackson-Davis</strong> scored 15 points, had seven rebounds and blocked three shots.</p><p>University of Indianapolis sophomore guard <strong>Ben Nicoson</strong> had two assists and a steal for the Greyhounds in their 77-64 home loss to Lewis.</p><p>Vanderbilt defensive tackle <strong>Cameron Tidd</strong> made two tackles and recovered a fumble in a 42-17 loss at Tennessee.</p><p>Louisville defensive back <strong>Russ Yeast</strong> finished a 45-21 defeat of visiting Wake Forest with four tackles. At the conclusion of the Cardinals’ season, Yeast announced he was entering the transfer portal to play elsewhere as a graduate student next fall.</p><p><strong>FRANKLIN</strong></p><p>Air Force swimmer <strong>Scarlet Friend</strong> placed seventh in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 59.55 seconds in a meet against Colorado State and Wyoming.</p><p>Ball State secured a berth in the MAC championship game in Detroit with a 30-27 win against Central Michigan. Sophomore linebacker <strong>Clayton Coll</strong> recorded three tackles for the Cardinals.</p><p><strong>GREENWOOD</strong></p><p>St. Francis forward <strong>Jeffrey Reynolds</strong> had a rebound, an assist and a steal in the Cougars’ 86-76 loss to Marian. He had six points and two boards in a 69-63 victory over Indiana Tech.</p><p><strong>WHITELAND</strong></p><p><strong>Sidney Crowe</strong> finished with four points, four rebounds and two steals for St. Francis in its 64-60 loss to Indiana Tech.</p><p>IU East guard <strong>Megan Harlow</strong> scored two points and grabbed a rebound in an 88-59 loss to Grace College.</p><p><strong>GREENWOOD CHRISTIAN</strong></p><p>Taylor junior guard <strong>Kegan Owen</strong> finished with two rebounds in the team’s 84-69 win at Rio Grande (Ohio).</p><p><strong>INDIAN CREEK</strong></p><p>Junior guard <strong>Jared DeHart</strong> had 10 points and two assists for Bethel in its 100-63 win at Mount Vernon Nazarene.</p>
