INDIANAPOLIS
Harold Richard Moreland was bornSeptember 18,1938 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Carlton & Gertrude (Wilkerson) Moreland. He passed away at the age of 82 on December 27, 2020. He was affectionately known as “Paps”and “Sprucey”.
Harold graduated from Warren Central High School. He was a painter for over 50 years and worked as a maintenance technician for IU Hospital retiring in the year 2000. Harold was also a member of Trinity Baptist Church. HeenjoyedIU, Colts, Pacers, Reds, loved to bowl, and was involved in Greenwood Bantam Youth Sports.
He dearly loved watching his family play sports andnever missed a game. “Paps” loved his family and “Sprucey” never met a stranger period!
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Delores ( Dody) Phelps Moreland; and his three brothers, Robert, Chuck, and Roy Moreland. He was also preceded in death by his loving granddaughter,Tracy Jean Moreland ( Lahue).
He leaves behind his two sons, Rick (Robin) Moreland and Jim ( Linda) Moreland;
grandaughters,Erika and Ali Moreland of Indianapolis; great grandchildren, Jessica (Dan) Lamott, Kylie Reed, Faith and Duane Lahue; as well as great- great grandchildren, Levi and Riley Rose Lamott, and J.J .
He will be missed by his family and friends.
A private service will be held on January 9, 2021. A life celebration will be held at a later date when circumstances allow. We will let everyone know at a later date.
