William J. “Bill” VoosGREENWOOD, IN
William J. “Bill” Voos 90 of Greenwood, IN passed away Sunday January 10, 2021 at ManorCare Health Services – Indy South. He was born July 2, 1930 in St. Louis, MO to William Fred Voos and Dollie Mae (Hall) Voos. He married Louise M. (Huddle) Voos on August 27, 1954 in St. Louis, MO, she survives. He was a graduate of Wellston High School in St. Louis, MO, attended the University of Kansas and was a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, MO. He was a United States Army Veteran. He served as the Dean of the Herron School of Art and Design for twenty years in Indianapolis, IN. He previously had been the President of the Atlanta College of Art for thirteen years, taught college art, also teaching art Ferguson High School in Ferguson, MO, and an advertising firm in St. Louis, MO. He had served as president of the Senior Academy at I.U.P.U.I in Indianapolis. He was a former member of the Community Church of Greenwood and attended Southland Community Church in Greenwood. He enjoyed trains, planes, history of wars, abstract painting and acrylic art, hiking, canoeing and had a lifelong passion of traveling. He had been a member of the Boy Scouts of America having received his Eagle Scout honor. Survivors include his wife Louise M. (Huddle) Voos of Greenwood, IN, three daughters Nancy E. Givens (Paul) of South Lake, TX, Susan L. Blackledge (Fred A.) of Indianapolis, IN and Patricia A. Voos of Greenwood, IN, two grandchildren Jack Givens and Luke Givens. He was preceded in death by his parents. Due to COVID-19 Mandates, the Reverend Steve Schellin will conduct a private family service that will be live-streamed on Thursday January 14, 2021 at 10AM at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/william-voos.
