Hassie Houshour, 88, of Franklin passed away on January 12, 2021 at Homeview Health and Rehabilitation in Franklin after a long and courageous battle with dementia. Hassie was born December 4, 1932 in Macon County, Tennessee to the late Jessie James and Lallie Iva (Cox) Carter.

She moved to Franklin and on March 21, 1953 married the love of her life, Everett Houshour. They were married 56 years until his passing in 2009. Hassie worked at several jobs over the years including several garment factories, the Indiana Masonic Home, and Franklin Plastic Products. She loved going to yard sales and was a regular at the Old Franklin Auction Barn on Fridays.

Hassie is survived by her son, Donald (Tamera) Houshour of Franklin; daughter-in-law, Beth Houshour of Whiteland; granddaughter, Rachel (Chuck) Thomas of Flat Rock; grandsons, Anthony Houshour of Nashsville, J.D. and Jon Houshour of Whiteland; great granddaughter, Whitley (Austin) Wilhite of Shelbyville; and great-great grandsons, Maddix and Jagger Wilhite. She is also survived by two brothers, Bob (Frances) Carter of Florida and Jack (Donna) Carter of Franklin; sisters, Charlene (Richard) Piercey and Shirley Carter of Lafayette, Tennessee; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett; son, Douglas Houshour; two brothers and two sisters.

Family will receive friends from 12:00pm – 2:00pm Wednesday, January 20 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, Indiana 46143.
