College notebook: Ferguson earns all-conference honors

<p>Air Force offensive lineman <strong>Parker Ferguson</strong> was one of two Falcons named first team all-Mountain West Conference by Phil Steele Magazine. Ferguson, a senior and former Center Grove player who helped lead Air Force to a 3-3 record this past season, also accepted an invitation to play in the Hula Bowl along with another ex-Trojan, Indiana’s <strong>Jovan Swann</strong>.</p><p><strong>CENTER GROVE</strong></p><p>Freshman <strong>Archit Malik,</strong> part of the IUPUI men’s cross country team and a computer science major, was named to the Fall Academic Advisor’s List for having a grade-point average of 3.0 or better.</p><p><strong>Spencer</strong> <strong>Piercefield</strong> knocked down three 3-pointers for Indiana Wesleyan in an 84-82 decision over Faulkner. The sophomore guard had three points and two assists in IWU’s 97-89 win at Huntington.</p><p><strong>Trayce Jackson-Davis</strong> posted the 16th double-double of his Indiana men’s basketball career with 15 points and 11 rebounds in IU’s 84-76 victory at Nebraska.</p><p>Sophomore guard <strong>Ben Nicoson</strong> had two points and a steal for the University of Indianapolis in its 77-56 loss at Missouri-St. Louis.</p><p>Purdue junior guard <strong>Cassidy Hardin</strong> finished with three points and two assists in the Boilermakers’ 83-46 loss at Maryland.</p><p>Findlay guard <strong>Allison Utterback</strong> had a rebound and steal in the Oilers’ 92-84 win at Walsh.</p><p><strong>INDIAN CREEK</strong></p><p>Bethel guard <strong>Jared DeHart</strong> had 18 points, six assists and five rebounds in the Pilots’ 99-82 victory against Mt. Vernon Nazarene.</p><p><strong>WHITELAND</strong></p><p>Franklin College sophomore forward <strong>Carter Crowe</strong> had seven points, four rebounds and two assists in the Grizzlies’ season-opening loss at Hanover, 76-74.</p><p><strong>Sidney Crowe</strong> finished with nine points and two rebounds for St. Francis in an 81-66 loss at Marian.</p><p><strong>FRANKLIN</strong></p><p>Goshen men’s volleyball player <strong>Andy Bennett</strong> had two kills and three blocks in the team’s season-opening five-set loss to visiting Campbellsville.</p><p>IUPUI junior cross country runner <strong>Josh Campbell</strong> was named to the Fall Academic Advisor’s List for having a grade-point average of 3.0 or better. Campbell is a management major.</p><p>Marian freshman wrestler <strong>Cash Nelson</strong> lost in overtime at heavyweight in the Knights’ 26-18 loss to Cumberlands.</p><p><strong>GREENWOOD</strong></p><p>Indiana sophomore wrestler <strong>Nick Willham</strong> lost a 5-4 decision at 197 pounds in the Hoosiers’ 39-3 loss to Illinois.</p><p>St. Francis forward <strong>Jeffrey Reynolds</strong> poured in 24 points and collected 12 rebounds in a 72-71 loss at Grace College. He also had six points, two rebounds and an assist in a 100-71 victory over Northwestern Ohio. </p>
