Marjorie Ruth ‘Margie’ Hood

FRANKLIN

Mrs. Marjorie Ruth ‘Margie’ Hood, Franklin, passed away on the early morning of Tuesday, January 19, 2021. She was 80. Margie was born March 9, 1941 in Franklin, Indiana a daughter of the late James Allen and Ethel Ruth (Fallis) Weaver.

Margie attended Franklin High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1958. She had been employed at Specialty Connector for eight years and retired in 2003. Previous to that, she had worked for Bendix Corp. for 10 years and also at Norplex for 12 years as a machine operator.

Margie had attended the Shiloh Community Church and was a member of the Franklin Senior Citizens. She was also a ‘silent’ member of the Johnson County 4-H Club assisting many young people with their projects. It was during her years with 4-H that she perfected the craft of upholstery. She had volunteered at both the Lord’s Cupboard Thrift Store and Morning Pointe Assisted Living in the Alzheimer’s unit. She was the yard sale queen, often planning her detailed route with maps as she shopped for treasures. In earlier years, she had raised Dachshund puppies along with her family. She was a very giving person with a big heart who was always helping others in any way she could.

Margie is survived by her children, Thomas Allen (Sheila) Hood and Jeffrey Todd (Sally) Hood; her grandchildren, Zachariah Allen (Monica) Hood, Jami Ann (James) Brown, Paul Edward (Heather) Denney and Alicia Marie (Charles) Green; her great-grandchildren, Kori James Brown and Tyler Edward Denney.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her husband, Thomas Irwin Hood and a sister, Deloris May (Weaver) Hood.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood with Pastor Hoss Ridgeway officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the hour of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family would also like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Morning Pointe Assisted Living in Franklin. It is a great comfort knowing that she was dearly loved by all those who cared for her during her stay.
