Letter: Consider this different approach to raising minimum wage

To the editor:

The minimum wage hike to $15 was recently removed from the COVID relief bill. West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin thought a more appropriate amount would be $11. Here’s an idea that might work better. With modern statistics and computers, it would be possible to tailor the minimum wage to each individual county in the United States. A $15 minimum wage might be too high for a rural county in West Virginia, but it is certainly too low for San Francisco. Workers deserve a living wage and businesses deserve to not be unduly burdened. It’s something to consider.

David Thompson

Franklin
