Wilma Jean Hougland 93, lifelong Franklin resident passed away Friday March 12, 2021 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, IN surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 10, 1927 in Franklin, IN to Isaac C. Hougland and Anna M. (Daes) Hougland.
</p>
<p>
She was a 1945 graduate of Franklin High School where she was a cheerleader.
</p>
<p>
She worked at the Henderson Drug Store for 20 years before retiring in 1997 to start watching her granddaughter Maci. She had previously worked in her father’s grocery store Hougland’s in Franklin until 1961.
</p>
<p>
Known as Maci’s Nanny, she enjoyed watching her granddaughter Maci play basketball and watching college basketball, especially I.U. and Bobby Knight. She also enjoyed riding horses and attending horse shows with her family.
</p>
<p>
Survivors include her daughter Michele Eads (Million) of Franklin, IN and her granddaughter Maci Lynn Eads of Franklin, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers John Hougland and Iris Hougland, sisters Aileen Hougland Smith, Sara Christine Hougland and infant Anna Mae Hougland.

A service will be conducted on Tuesday March 16, 2021 at 7PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed for family and friends to connect at <a href="http://www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/wilma-hougland">www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/wilma-hougland</a>. Please use Firefox Internet or Google Chrome for optimal viewing. Friends may call Tuesday March 16, 2021 from 4PM until service time at the mortuary. Facial coverings or mask and social distancing is required for those attending. A private family burial will take place on Wednesday March 17, 2021 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
