Richard "Rick" Grant Smith

Richard "Rick" Grant Smith, 70, of New Whiteland, Indiana, passed away surrounded by loved ones at his home on Saturday, March 27, 2021.
</p>
<p>
Rick was born on March 22, 1951 in Martinsville, Indiana to the late Harold Grant Smith &amp; Lois Irene (Naylor) Smith.
</p>
<p>
Rick married the love of his life, the late Connie Jean (Riley) Smith, on June 3, 1972 in Hartsville, Indiana. They were married for 44 wonderful years.
</p>
<p>
Rick was employed at Allison Engine Company, now known as Rolls-Royce, and worked as a pipefitter for 28 years until his retirement in 2013.
</p>
<p>
Rick was a graduate from Whiteland Community High School’s class of 1969 and an alumnus of Vincennes College. He was a member of UAW Local 933, UA Local 440, and Our Lady of the Greenwood Church. In his free time, Rick enjoyed reading his favorite books, completing puzzles, fly fishing, and bird watching. He was an animal lover at heart and will dearly miss his best friend, his dog Lucy.

Rick is survived by his two sons, William Ryan (Jennifer) Smith of Lafayette, Indiana and Aaron Grant (Dianna) Smith of Indianapolis, Indiana; his two grandchildren, Jack Ethan Smith and Emma Grace Smith, both of Lafayette, Indiana; his sister, Lois Kathleen (Greg) Hannum of Columbus, Indiana.
</p>
<p>
Rick was preceded in death by his wife, Connie, and his parents, Harold &amp; Lois.
</p>
<p>

A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 3:00pm at Jessen Funeral Home ~ Whiteland Chapel with visitation from 1:00pm until the service hour.
</p>
<p>
Per the Indiana State Governor, Eric Holcomb, and the Indiana State Department of Health’s mandate, social distancing regulations are required with guests maintaining a minimum of 6 feet apart from one another. Masks are mandatory and are to be worn at all times. No food is permitted at this time.
</p>
