Mary Kathleen Ellett

FRANKLIN

Mrs. Mary Kathleen Ellett (Oates) died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at her residence in Franklin, Indiana at the age of 83. She returned to her heavenly home after a valiant battle with a long illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

Mrs. Ellett was born on December 28, 1937 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Jesse Howard and Catherine Oates. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1956. She married Robert, her high school sweetheart, in 1957. Over the next 6 years, the couple welcomed 4 children into their home. Mrs. Ellett became an LPN and worked as a nurse at Johnson Memorial Hospital for 27 years. After retiring, she volunteered at Franklin United Methodist Community (now Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community) and Interchurch Food Pantry of Johnson County. She also enjoyed reading, music, bingo, and traveling.

Mrs. Ellett is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Robert Lee Ellett; children, Pamela Spencer (Rick), Phillip Ellett, and Larry Ellett (Lynne); 3 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Patty Gordon; and her son, Robert (Bobby) Lee Ellett, Jr.

All are welcome to attend and celebrate Kathleen’s life on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton Street (U.S. 31) in Franklin. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at First Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Franklin.
