Smoke could be seen for miles as multiple fire crews worked Tuesday morning to put out a large metal barn fire.

The Bargersville Community Fire Department responded to a call about 8 a.m. regarding a fire at 725 W. County Road 375 N. Crews from White River Township, Madison Township, Green Township, Needham Township and Trafalgar assisted in putting out the blaze.

The fire was under control in 40 minutes. The fire agencies used 30,000 gallons of water to extinguish the barn, according to a Bargersville fire news release.

The large building contained go-karts, all-terrain vehicles and tractors. The barn and its contents are a total loss, but there were no injuries, according to the news release.

The fire caused an estimated $200,000 in damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Combined with the more than 70 pounds of gear firefighters don, the heat is an added challenge for firefighters during the summer, Bargersville fire assistant chief Mike Pruitt said.
