Merrill L. “Mutt” Musgrave

MARTINSVILLE

Merrill L. “Mutt” Musgrave, 81, Martinsville, passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Compass Park Retirement Community in Franklin.

He was born on Friday, October 6, 1939 in Martinsville, Indiana, to the late Paul Wendell and Floy Minnie (Baker) Musgrave.

Merrill was a 1959 graduate of Martinsville High School. He went on to serve his country in the United States Army and then served in the Indiana Army National Guard after his discharge from the Army. Merrill was a certified welder for 17 years at WABCO in Indianapolis and then went on to farming fulltime with his two sons. Merrill stayed active during his lifetime being involved with Martinsville Junior Football and the Morgan County 4-H program. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and was an avid IU Basketball fan. Merrill was known as the “Fun Uncle” to his many nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his wife, Judith A. “Judy” (Stanley) Musgrave, whom he married on December 5, 1971; sons, Denny Musgrave and Thomas “Tommy” Musgrave, both of Martinsville; grandchildren, Callie, Madelyn, Cole, Zack, Tucker and Elleigh.

Merrill was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Floy; siblings, Boyd Musgrave and Martha Lou Crews.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 8, 2021 at the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery in Waverly, Indiana, with Tom Burbrink officiating. Visitation will be Thursday at Costin Funeral Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for contributions to The Salvation Army, Morgan County Humane Society, or your favorite charity.
