HELMSBURG AND FORMERLY OF GREENWOOD

Robert L. ‘Bob’ Browning, age 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, August 19, 2021 at Brown County Health & Living Community in Nashville. He was a resident of Helmsburg and a former resident of Greenwood.

Bob was born April 3, 1929 in Martinsville, to his parents, the late Howard and Luna (Ruggles) Browning. He attended Southport High School and went on to retire in 1991 from General Motors Truck & Bus Plant in Indianapolis after 27 years of service. Bob was an active member of the Scarlet Mask Vigilance Society, which was a Cowboy action shooting club. He was also a member of the National Congress of Old West Shootist, the Single Action Shooter Society and the Edinburgh United Methodist Church. Bob was longtime member and dedicated Boy Scout Leader in Greenwood.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Donna L. (Lain) Browning, whom he married in 1957 in Greenwood. Robert is also preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Browning II; and a son in law, Keith Heeg.

He is survived by his children, Larry L. (wife, Marlene) Gardner of Nashville and Terry Heeg of Michigan; grandchildren, Lauren Ewing of Brownsburg and Lain Ewing of California.

The Rev. Duane Butt will conduct a funeral service on Monday at 1 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
