Betty Lou (Schnaus) Shelley

FRANKLIN, IN.

Betty Lou (Schnaus) Shelley 84 of Franklin, IN passed away on October 5, 2021 at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, Florida. She was born October 5, 1937 in Ireland, IN to Albert Schnaus Sr. and Cecelia Anastasia (Dick) Schnaus. She married James H. Shelley on May 14, 1960 in Ireland, IN, he preceded her in death on January 6, 2003.

She was a 1955 graduate of Ireland High School where she had been a cheerleader and had perfect attendance all through high school.

She had been an assistant manager for Mac’s Steakhouse in Franklin from 1975 until 1986.

Betty was an avid Pacers fan, enjoyed playing bingo at the Franklin Senior Citizens Center, attending sporting events of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a seamstress and enjoyed sewing.

Survivors include her daughters Cindy Lockwood (Roger) of Surprise, AZ, Suzie Watson (Jim Watson-deceased) of Nineveh, IN, Lisa Duckworth of Bradenton, FL, Carma Barnes (David DeWitt) of Franklin, IN and Lori Dyer-Smith (Jeff) of Whiteland, IN, eighteen grandchildren Brent Lockwood, Brittany Lockwood, Jeni Guffy (Lee), Andy Watson (Danielle), Heather McManus (Dan), Josh Watson (Emily), Savannah Necessary (John), Dustin Boyd (Autum), Alicia Cyrnek (Kevin), Angel Duckworth, Carley Barnes, Corey Barnes, Chloe Barnes, Heidi Kennard (Andy), Briana Dyer, Whitney Dyer (Dylan Collett), Kaleb Dyer and Payton Smith, eighteen great grandchildren two sisters Martha Stenftenagel of Jasper, IN and Annie Burger of Jasper, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents Albert Schnaus Sr. and Cecelia Anastasia (Dick) Schnaus, her husband James H. Shelley, an infant son Anthony Raymond Shelley, a son in law James A. “Jim” Watson, brothers LeRoy Schnaus, Sylvester Schnaus, Albert Schnaus Jr., Virgil Schnaus, Robert Schnaus, Larry Schnaus and Edward Schnaus.

Friends may call Tuesday October 19, 2021 from 6PM until 8PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN.

Father Joseph F. Erbacher will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday October 20, 2021 at 12 Noon at St. Mary Catholic Church 2829 North 500 West in Jasper, IN with visitation from 11AM until service time at the church.

Burial will be in St. Mary Church Cemetery in Jasper, IN.
