David Black

David C. Black, 72 of Hobe Sound, Florida passed away at home September 22, 2021 under the care of Treasure Coast Hospice. His wife Carol was at his bedside when the Lord called him Home.

Born in Indianapolis, IN in 1949, David was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lorena Black and two sisters, Carol (Chavez) and Janice (Ellis). He is survived by brothers James “Jim” (Karen) Black and Michael “Mike” (Penny) Black and sisters Susan “Susie” Reed and Shari Marie Black and many nieces and nephews.

David was blessed with three daughters and five grandchildren. Jamie Stack (Doug), grandchildren Evan and Annalise, Lindsey Eads and granddaughter Addison and Ashley Salazar (Eric) and grandsons Oscar and Ozzie and former spouse Vickey Bundy – all of the Indianapolis area.

David graduated from Whiteland High School in 1968 and joined the U.S. Army where he served in Vietnam (’68-’69) and Germany (’69-’71). After his Honorable Discharge, he joined the Indiana National Guard in 1973, serving in the 128th General Supply Company located at Camp Atterbury, Edinburgh, IN. While serving in the Guard, he was hired as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic at the Unit Training Equipment Site (UTES). He retired from the military and the civil service after 28 years in January 1998.

After moving to Florida in 1998, he was employed as a carpenter with the Palm Beach School Board for 17 years, retiring in March 2015.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at The Grace Place, 1550 SE Salerno Rd., Stuart, FL 34997. Pastor Rick Addison will be officiating. The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) will present a flag to the family and conduct a ceremony honoring David’s service to his country.
