Trojans sweep Orioles

Center Grove won at Avon Tuesday, with the boys taking a 118.5 to 61.5 victory and the girls rolling by a 130-53 count. Kiersten Smith (200 and 500 freestyle) and Lara Phipps (50 and 100 free) each won two individual events for the girls, with Laney Brooks (100 breaststroke) and Mia Prusiecki (diving) also finishing first. Garrett Crist (200 IM and 500 free), Ben Clarkston (100 and 200 free) and Evan Hernandez (butterfly and backstroke) were all double winners for the Trojan boys, while Connor Conkin (breaststroke) and Robbie Miller (diving) each claimed one event.

Warriors fall to Cardinals

Whiteland was swept by Southport, with the girls suffering a 102-80 defeat and the boys losing by an 89-55 margin. Zach Brodnik won both the 200 IM and 100 freestyle for the boys, while Marcus King took the 100 breaststroke. On the girls side, Amelia Edens (500 free) and Olivia Boehnlein (diving) each finished first.

Grizzly Cubs smother Flashes

Ashlyn Traylor’s 20 points helped Class 4A No. 2 Franklin to a 67-26 rout of Franklin Central on Tuesday. The Grizzly Cubs (12-0), who led 50-8 at halftime, also got 11 points from Kyndell Jochim, nine from Adelyn Walker and eight from Kuryn Brunson.

Trojans outduel Artesians

Center Grove pulled away from Martinsville for a 39-21 victory, its fourth straight. Savanna Bischoff scored nine points for the Trojans (8-5), while Audrey Annee and Rachel Wirts each contributed eight.

Lancers edge Jets

Gracie Crawhorn scored 13 points to lead Edinburgh to a 49-45 triumph at Hauser. Bethany Burton added eight points for the Lancers (7-4, 1-0 Mid-Hoosier).

Dewey earns IBCA weekly honor

Edinburgh junior Caleb Dewey was named the IBCA Player of the Week for District 3 on Tuesday after a big-time performance against North Decatur. The 6-foot-3 wing tallied a career-best 36 points in the Class A No. 5 Lancers’ 67-57 victory, adding 10 rebounds, six steals and three assists.

Edinburgh (5-0) hosts Hauser and Monrovia on Friday and Saturday this week.
