GREENWOOD
Henrietta “Rietta” McComas, 89 of Greenwood, IN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at her home. She attended Jeffersonville High School where she met the love of her life, Alton “Brooks” McComas. They were married almost 72 years. He survives.
Rietta enjoyed square dancing, round dancing, and going to most of her grandkids school and sporting events. She rarely missed a Pacers or Colts game on TV, and liked golfing, bowling, and boating – spending many days on their houseboat the “Brooketta”. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She hosted many wonderful Christmas Eves and enjoyed making Halloween costumes for her grandsons. Rietta was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Greenwood. The family is comforted by knowing she is now with her Lord and Savior in heaven.
In addition to her husband, Rietta is survived by son Mike (Debbie) McComas of Greenwood; daughter Julie Burger of Greenwood; grandchildren: Nathan McComas, Kyle McComas, Nick Burger, Jeremy Burger; and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents Henry and Mae Schiller, sister Betty Garvey, and infant son Jerry McComas.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood. A funeral service, led by pastor Jeff Alexander, will begin at 1:00PM at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 5171 W. Smokey Row Road, Greenwood, IN 46143.
