Here’s a look at people who recently filed for candidacy in Johnson County between 4 p.m. Wednesday and 4 p.m. Friday, as compiled from reports from the Johnson County Election Board:

Ronald K. Ping, Democrat, Franklin Union Needham Township Board — Union Township

Mark J. Powell, Democrat, U.S. Representative for the Sixth Congressional District

Janet J. Renner, Republican, Nineveh Township Trustee

Todd Young, Republican, U.S. Senator

The following people withdrew their declaration of candidacy in Johnson County during the same time period:

Fred Mills, Republican, State Representative for District 57

CORRECTION: Jan. 31, 2022 at 5 p.m.

Due to an issue with the statewide voter registration system, Mark J. Powell, a candidate for U.S. Representative was erroneously reported to the county election board as filing for office as a Republican. Powell actually registered as a Democrat.
