Boys basketball

Cougars outdo Braves

Greenwood Christian got 17 points from Max Booher and 16 from Blake Shewmaker on the way to a 56-48 triumph over visiting Indian Creek on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars (12-9) also got nine points from Matt Teike; the Braves (3-13) were led by 18 points from Javan Crouch and 13 from Bryce Armstrong.

Lancers hammer Tigers

Playing its first game as the top-ranked team in Class A, Edinburgh had its way with Crothersville in a 72-32 home win. Caleb Dewey scored 17 points and Jarrett Turner 13 for the Lancers (15-1), while Travis Jones and Braylon Bryant added eight points each and Connor Ramey finished with seven.

Royals fall to Ritter

Roncalli suffered a 67-57 setback at Cardinal Ritter on Saturday. Luke Kegerreis poured in 27 points in defeat for the Royals (6-10), while Nolan Tunny added 12.

Franklin College

Women’s basketball edges Anderson

Franklin College led for all but 18 seconds of the contest, but had to hold off a late charge to defeat Anderson, 79-77, on Saturday. Destinee Cross and Kayla Bruner scored 15 points each for the Grizzlies (7-12, 5-7 HCAC), while Jessica Nix contributed 14 and Maddie Barnes added 11.

Men’s basketball comes up short

An 18-point halftime deficit was too big for Franklin College to erase in an 83-69 home loss to Anderson. T.J. Deere paced the Grizzlies (9-12, 5-10 HCAC) with 14 points, while Mitch O’Mara and Matt Krause added 12 and 11 points, respectively.
