Stephen Stalcup

Stephen J. Stalcup age 80 of Greenwood, Indiana died February 2, 2022, at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born August 16, 1941, in Washington, Indiana. The son of Floyd A. and Jennie (King) Stalcup, both deceased.

Steve was employed by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for over 32 years and served in a number of executive positions for the Agency. Among those were assignments in the National Headquarters in Washington, DC; Director, National Computer Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia; District Director for the State of Iowa in Des Moines; and Assistant Regional Commissioner for Data Processing in Dallas, Texas.

Upon retirement from IRS in 1995, Steve devoted his energy to a long-time hobby and passion – Family History and Genealogical research. He developed an extensive knowledge of the roots of both the Stalcup family and his wife Clovanne Myers ancestors and their collateral family lines in Indiana. Both the Myers and Stalcup families have been in Indiana in 1818. He readily shared his research with other family historians and provided research assistance to them when requested. He was a member of the Indiana historical society, Indiana Genealogical Society, Swedish Colonial Society, Greene County Historical Society, and Greene County Genealogical Society.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Clova Anne (Myers) Stalcup, and their children Janelle and Bradley Burchfield of Lewisville, Texas; Tim and Lisa Stalcup of Wylie, Texas and two Grandchildren, Brittney Odom and Spencer Stalcup, and three Great-Grand Children. He is survived by his sister, Charmaine Reynolds of Decatur, Illinois, and brother Brian Stalcup.

Per wishes, there will be no formal funeral. A prayer service for the family and invited guests will be held later at the Columbarium in Memorial Park Cemetery in Vincennes, Indiana where the remains will be interred.
