Franklin’s Traylor an Indiana All-Star

Ashlyn Traylor’s lone basketball season at Franklin turned out to be a great one; the senior helped lead the Grizzly Cubs all the way to the Class 4A state championship game, their first appearance in the final since 1998.

It got even better on Tuesday, when Traylor was one of 14 players named to the 2022 Indiana All-Star team.

Traylor led the 28-2 Grizzly Cubs in scoring (17.3), rebounding (5.9) and steals (3.2) and was at her best in the biggest moments, averaging 21.1 points during the team’s seven state tournament games.

She is joined on the team by Miss Basketball Ayana Patterson of Homestead, Jessica Carrothers and Lilly Stoddard of Crown Point, Carmel’s Kate Clarke, Westfield’s Alyssa Crockett, East Central’s Hope Fox, Franklin Central’s Rayah Kincer, Blue River Valley’s Ally Madden, Silver Creek’s Kynidi Mason-Striverson, Mila Reynolds of South Bend Washington, Olivia Smith of Fort Wayne South, Zoe Stewart of Terre Haute North and Tanyuel Welch of North Central.

Kincer, who was injured early in the season, is not expected to play with the team in any of its games this year.

The Junior-Senior exhibition game is set for June 8 at a site to be announced. The Indiana All-Stars will then play against the Kentucky All-Stars on June 10 at the Owensboro Sportscenter in Owensboro, Kentucky and on June 11 at Southport Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Note: The Daily Journal will run its All-County girls basketball team in Saturday’s paper.
