Creech, Hoffman score at NCAA meet
Kenyon sophomore Sarah Hoffman and Franklin College junior Gauge Creech, former high school teammates at Franklin, each scored points for their schools on the opening day of the NCAA swimming and diving championships at IU Natatorium on Wednesday. Hoffman placed 14th in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:57.37 in the consolation final, while Creech wound up 14th in 3-meter diving with a score of 441.05 in the evening finals.
Hoffman advanced to the B final by finishing 10th in the morning preliminaries (4:55.96). Creech was 15th in the diving prelims with an 11-dive score of 417.95.
Both will be competing again this weekend — Hoffman in the 200 and 1,650 freestyle and Creech on the 1-meter board.
