Hoffman helps Kenyon to D-III title

Franklin graduate Sarah Hoffman scored in three different events, including a top-10 effort Saturday in the 1,650-yard freestyle, to help the Kenyon College women win their record 24th NCAA Division III swimming and diving championship.

Hoffman finished the 1,650 in a time of 17 minutes, 5.61 seconds during the final day of competition, good for 10th place and seven points — matching the Lords’ overall margin of victory over Emory (446-439). Earlier in the meet, the former Grizzly Cub had finished 14th in the 500 freestyle and led off Kenyon’s 12th-place 800 free relay.

On the men’s side, Franklin College diver Gauge Creech followed up his 14th-place showing in 3-meter diving by finishing 19th on the 1-meter board.
