College roundup: Reed’s hits help lead Ravens to victory

Senior designated hitter Brady Reed had two singles for the Anderson baseball team in a 13-9 win over Mount St. Joseph. The former Whiteland player accounted for one of the Ravens’ runs in the second game of the doubleheader, an 11-0 Anderson victory.

Whiteland

Lipscomb freshman Bella Jackson was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (14.80 seconds) at the John Walker Invitational. Jackson was sixth in the heptathlon with 4,532 points.

Addison Csikos doubled and scored a run for Franklin College softball in a 3-1 victory over Mount St. Joseph. Macy Cornelius had a single in a losing effort. Csikos had an RBI double in a 3-0 victory against Hanover and hit her first career home run in a win over Rose-Hulman.

Indiana Wesleyan senior Danielle Munn picked up the save with one inning of hitless relief in a 2-1 downing of Grace College. Munn got the start and took the loss in the Wildcats’ 9-6 loss to Goshen College.

Center Grove

Northwestern catcher Jordyn Rudd was named Big Ten Player of the Week for the second time in her career after batting .600 with three home runs over a four-game stretch.

UIndy senior Hanna Burris singled and doubled in an 11-3 win over Southwest Baptist.

Southern Indiana sophomore Lexi Fair homered and singled as the Eagles scored a 2-1 victory over Drury in 10 innings. Fair’s two-run triple helped USI win at Southwest Baptist, 11-0.

Designated hitter Adam Taylor doubles as the Franklin College baseball squad won at Defiance, 10-2. FC won the second game, 7-4, in 10 innings, with Taylor scoring three of his team’s runs. Jackson Young was the Grizzlies’ starting pitcher, going seven innings, allowing four hits and striking out eight.

Morehead State pitcher Grant Herron notched the win in the team’s 18-3 win over Presbyterian, getting the start and giving up three hits in four innings.

Freshman Drue Young pitched the first 4 2/3 innings for Indiana Wesleyan baseball in a 10-8 defeat at Huntington, allowing five hits, five runs and striking out five.

Bryce Eblin doubled for Alabama baseball in its 7-4 win at Mississippi, and scored two of the Crimson Tide runs in a 12-10 victory over the Rebels.

Louisville sprinter Kiyah Yeast ran a 200-meter time of 24.66 seconds at the University of Tennessee Relays.

University of Indianapolis runner Gabrielle Harrell had a career-best time of 40:51.07 in the 10,000-meter run at the Jim Vargo Invitational.

Freshman goalkeeper Matthew Hendrick made 19 saves for Wabash College lacrosse in a 23-6 loss to Oberlin.

Indiana men’s golf finished ninth at the Boilermaker Invitational. Junior Noah Gillard tied for 44th individually with a three-round total of 228. Playing as an individual, senior Ethan Shepherd also had a 228.

Marian freshman golfer Brandon Heffner tied for 34th with a two-round total of 153 as the Knights competed in the TPC Deere Run Invitational. Freshman Sam Slaughter had a 163 at the Sagamore Shootout.

Greenwood

UIndy junior Emily Bonser finished the discus with a best effort of 122 feet, 1 inch at the Jim Vargo Invitational. She was third in the hammer throw with a toss of 147-5.

Franklin College junior Janae Johnson placed fourth in the long jump and was part of the third-place 4×100 relay at the Huntsman Family Invitational. Grizzlies teammate Mallory Watson was part of the second-place 4×400 relay, which posted a time of 4:43.87.

UIndy catcher Lexy Rees had a pair of doubles as the softball team won at Kentucky Wesleyan, 2-1. Dominique Proctor had a single and stolen base. Proctor singled and homered for the Greyhounds in the second game of the doubleheader, an 8-0 victory.

Junior T.J. Bass contributed a home run as the Taylor baseball squad won, 5-3, in the opener of a doubleheader against Spring Arbor. Taylor lost the nightcap, 4-3, despite Bass homering again and hitting a single.

Franklin

Marian senior Sam Barnett was eighth in the 400-meter hurdles in 55.90 seconds at the Indiana Tech Invite.

University of Indianapolis sophomore Andrew Bixler posted a career-best time of 32:17.19 in the 10,000-meter run at the Jim Vargo Invitational.

Vincennes pole vaulter Matthew Frazier took fifth with a best of 3.92 meters (12 feet, 8½ inches) at the George Glass Invitational.

Logan Snyder won his match at No. 1 doubles for the Concordia (Wisconsin) men’s tennis team as it lost to Illinois Tech, 8-1.

Butler freshman golfer Damon Dickey finished with a three-round total of 233 to tie for 62nd place individually as the Bulldogs finished 12th of 14 teams at the Boilermaker Invitational.
